The Art of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy: A Collection of Case Studies

The Art of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

A Collection of Case Studies

Foreword written by David Newton

Twelve uplifting case studies that provide a unique insight into the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) process for working with clients both face to face and online.

This groundbreaking book candidly reveals for the first time what happens within the therapeutic space between the solution focused hypnotherapist and the client. Ten experienced hypnotherapists share their knowledge and expertise to provide invaluable insights, tips and techniques that will be especially beneficial to trainee and newly qualified practitioners, whilst also stimulating useful reflection and discussion in those with more experience.

Sympathetically written from the hypnotherapist’s perspective, these case studies beautifully illustrate just how versatile and effective SFH is for helping clients overcome their problems and improve their lives.

Case Studies to Inspire Confidence and Creativity

By sharing these case studies with you, we hope they will:

  • boost your self confidence for working with a variety of clients with different presenting problems so that you can take your practice to the next level;
  • give you a range of tried and tested practical tools and techniques that you can use immediately to help your clients;
  • inspire you to embrace your own flare and creativity so that you can be totally true to yourself as you practice the art of SFH.

Translating Theory into Practice

Each case study is based on real-life experiences and describes the therapeutic journeys of twelve very different clients, from the initial consultation to the final session. Throughout the book you will see how each author’s interpretation of the SFH framework and philosophy is influenced by their own personal experiences, interests and continuing professional development. As a consequence, the case studies are rich with:

  • examples of the skilful use of solution focused questioning and techniques;
  • explanations of how the neuroscience is adapted to the individual client;
  • hypnotic language patterns and metaphors for consolidating the therapeutic work;
  • practical therapeutic tools and techniques that can facilitate change;
  • references to an array of literature that supports SFH practice.

Each case study can also be used as a client metaphor to effect change with your own clients

Praise for the Book

I learned a lot from The Art of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy as no doubt you will. I enjoyed reading it. The calibre of those contributing to this exciting book is evident for all to see. I commend it to you.

David Newton

I really enjoyed this book, right from the introduction, which was both informative, but very readable… there was a useful range of problems and dilemmas… This book is a useful addition to the [solution focused] field.

Nigel Smith

This book, quite simply, makes me feel good… The selection of case studies deals with difficult issues with such ease, understanding and grace. I’ll certainly be recommending it to my peers.

This book [is] a thought-provoking, accessible and welcome reference for clinicians and students in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. The Art of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is one of those books that I will return to again.
